A bit about the Brompton paint shop
In 2017, when Brompton moved to their new state of the art factory in Greenford, London they invested in a rather swanky new paint machine. Previously the bikes were sent 320km away to Wales by truck, so this was a welcome move. The new machine uses sing 100% renewable energy and sprays a plastic powder which attaches to the components using an electrostatic charge. The process also includes an important pre-treatment to prevent corrosion on the steel parts. You can read more about the process in our blog Powder Power – How a Brompton is painted.
