PEDAAL is where coffee and community collide—a neighborhood spot owned by two local coffee fanatics who are just as passionate about cycling as they are about the perfect pour. This isn’t your average café. We’re a maximalist escape hatch from the ordinary, packed with plants, personality, and the kind of charm you’d find in our favourite UK coffee shops. Forget sterile, concrete minimalism—our space is alive, buzzing, and unapologetically unique, designed to bring people together.
Our coffee menu is just as diverse as our vibe. Whether you crave the deep chocolate notes of second-wave classics, the bright, floral acidity of third-wave artistry, or the global variety of fourth-wave roasts to brew at home, we’ve got you covered. At PEDAAL, it’s not just about coffee—it’s about creating a space where neighbors connect, ideas spark, and good vibes – and bikes! – roll.
Traffic Coffee
It all started in an airplane seat, somewhere between stale coffee and restless thoughts, when Greg from Traffic realized coffee wasn’t just fuel—it was revolution in a cup. Like Bullitt cargo bikes tearing through city streets with irreverent style, coffee became his way to challenge the status quo. What began as a student’s lifeline through sleepless nights morphed into an obsession fueled by curiosity and connection. Each sip, each question, and every sunrise walk in Montreal’s Old Port built a vision of what coffee could be.
This vision sparked a partnership with another rebel—a barista with a notebook full of dreams and the same unyielding taste for anarchy. Together, they set out to discover, curate, and share coffee experiences that break all the rules. From golden Costa Rican delicacies to wild Ethiopian fermentations, they’re creating a revolution of flavor and freedom. Like a Bullitt weaving through gridlock, their mission is about movement, expression, and taking coffee to places it’s never been. Buckle up. This ride is just getting started.
FAQs
Do you bake your own pastries and cookies?
While we’re experts in coffee and bikes, we leave the baking to the professionals! Our delicious French-style pastries are delivered fresh every morning by the talented team at Gouter Bakery. For the city’s best cookies, we’ve partnered with the wonderful folks at Courage Cookies. They ensure we have a delightful selection of treats to complement your coffee.
Do you host events?
Yes, we do! Our cafe is a great spot for a variety of events, from small gatherings and birthday parties to book clubs and community meetups. We also host our own events, like live music nights and group bike rides. If you’re interested in hosting an event here, just get in touch with us to discuss the details and make a reservation!
Where is your coffee from?
Our coffee beans are sourced from all over the world, with producers in places like Ethiopia and Colombia. However, we work with some fantastic roasters right here in Canada to bring you the best brews. We partner with Traffic from Montreal, known for their unique and exciting beans, and Anchored Coffee from the East Coast, who specialize in comforting, dependable blends. We also collaborate with Detour, a Hamilton favorite that’s popular across Toronto, and a specialty roaster dedicated to working with individual producers to bring out unique flavors in every cup.
