Official Brompton Press Release:
Through our continuous quality processes, we have been made aware of an issue with the Brompton T Line bike.
Under specific circumstances, the handlebar support and fork can become misaligned, posing risk to riders. We have received 15 reports relating to this issue although there have been no reports of injury.
The safety of our customers is of paramount importance to us, so we have taken the decision to recall all bikes to have the necessary fix.
This simple procedure includes increasing the torque value applied to the four steerer clamp hinge bolts to 7 Nm, ensuring that misalignment cannot occur. We have also implemented this change to our manufacturing process.
Any Brompton T Line’s produced before 21st June 2024, as identified by a serial number of up to 2406070001, require the following fix:
1. Check that the bike has not already been updated by providing the number to an authorised dealer to check against the online Serial Checker on the Brompton B2Busing the following Serial Number checker
2. If the bike is affected, Please bring the bicycle to us as soon as possible to be fixed. If this is not possible either take it to your local certified bicycle mechanic to tighten the four steerer clamp hinge bolts to 7 Nm as shown in the step-by-step guidance in the following links:
3. Mark each corrected bike using a visual indicator to identify that the correction has been performed. We recommend a green sticker as shown in the instructions.
4. If the bike was fixed anywhere other that a registered Brompton dealer then please provide proof and we can register each correction with Brompton on the B2B.
Bikes manufactured from 21st June 2024, have had the increased torque value applied and are not affected. These can be identified by having a serial number of 2406070001 or greater.
