FAQs
Do you ship bikes?
We sure do! We ship bikes across Canada, even cargo bikes! In fact, we can ship your new bike to your front door 100% assembled, tuned, and ready to ride!Â
Why Brompton and Bullitt?
Brompton and Bullitt are the global leaders when it comes to folding bikes and cargo bikes. Each introduced the concept of folding or cargo bikes to the world, both mainstreamed the concepts, and both continue to innovate miles ahead of the competition.Â
Can I test bikes?
Drop by our shop and you are always welcome to test ride our bikes! We also have a fleet of demo bikes that are available for rent daily or weekly.Â
Where are you located?
We are located in Toronto’s Harbord Village, a neighbourhood famous for its history of cycling activism and density of city cyclists. The residents of Harbord Village included the great urban theorist Jane Jacobs, and the neighbourhood is  famous for stopping freeway projects like the Spadina Expressway. Thanks to these efforts, the Harbord bike lane is the busiest in Toronto. We like to think that Pedaal carries the torch of this activism!
Bikes and Coffee... what's the concept?
We believe bicycles should be a daily part of life, just like your morning coffee! Our inspiration is the Dutch, who love a great cup of coffee as much as they love their bikes. Of course, here in Canada this may take some convincing, so our little coffee shop is there to start the conversation. And, given that there’s no better way to have a conversation than over a cup of coffee, our little cafe welcomes cyclists, non-cyclists and future cyclists alike!
What does Pedaal mean?
Pedaal means “pedal,” but in Dutch! We chose the word because we don’t just import bicycles, but the culture behind them. We believe that here in North America, we need cities made for bikes, but also bikes made for cities. This is where we come in. By importing the proper tools for city cycling, we can help inspire a critical mass of new cyclists, literally paving the way for more bicycle infrastructure.Â
