April Hacienda La Esmeralda Panama

Considered one of the top three roasters in the world, we are pleased to present Copenhagen’s April Coffee at Pedaal. Hacienda La Esmeralda has roots as rich as its coffee. Established in 1940 by Hans Elliot, the estate began as cattle pasture before evolving into one of Panama’s most iconic coffee producers. In the 1980s, the Peterson family embraced the Boquete region’s coffee-growing heritage, transforming their land into a specialty coffee powerhouse. By 1997, the acquisition of Jaramillo Farm on the slopes of Volcán Barú marked a turning point, introducing higher-altitude cultivation and eventually the world-renowned Geisha coffee.

This season showcases “Diamond Mountain,” a standout Catuai lot from the Jaramillo Farm. Nestled among Gesha plots, this coffee offers a flavor profile all its own—vibrant orange, creamy nougat, and delicate biscuit notes. Catuai, a hybrid born from Mundo Novo and Caturra, brings a unique twist to the legacy of Hacienda La Esmeralda, redefining what’s possible from this legendary estate.
